thermosetting polymers have been widely used in various industrial applications as adhesives, coatings and laminated materials, among others. On the other hand, the use of aromatic amines as curing agents confer the properties of heat resistance, mechanical and fire very well for the final product, even though they are toxic and are subject to government restrictions. In this context, diepoxy monomer anhydride derived sugar and green represent a sustainable alternative to BPA and aromatic amines. Here, we report the “in-situ” sol-gel synthesis, using as a precursor tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) and aminopropyl triethoxysilane (APTS) to obtain bio-based epoxy / silica composite;
The first step, APTS is left to react with 2,5-bis [(oxyran-2-ylmethoxy) methyl] furan (BOMF) or diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA) monomer, and the resulting silica particles in epoxy in a second step ; The second system nadic cured with methyl anhydride (MNA). composite morphology investigation through a transmission electron microscope (TEM) showed that the hybrid strategy enables excellent distribution of silica nanoparticles (at the nanometric level) to be achieved in a hybrid network structure for the second diepoxy monomer. Overview: Methacrylate related sensitivities and allergies today goes beyond traditional thinking about denture base resins and materials while methyl methacrylate. Methacrylate now ubiquitous in the current dental practice and dental personnel should be aware that dental adhesives contain potent sensitizer may also be cross-sensitization to methacrylates individuals did not experience. Sensitivity grow to 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) has described an epidemic in nature because the industry of artificial nails with dental patients and dental personnel may be more susceptible to tooth methacrylate sensitization.
While contact dermatitis remains the most common clinical presentation related methacrylate, respiratory complications and asthma increase is associated with exposure to methacrylates. While additional personal protective equipment (PPE) is expected to be the first protective choice, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) considers the overall PPE largely ineffective and should be considered only as a last resort.
Conclusion: Dental personnel must be aware of the source of methacrylate and control measures limit the use of workplace exposure to second methacrylate dental personnel and patients.
